Who We Are

This Privacy Policy explains how the La Manga Club Owners Association (“LMCOA”, “the Association”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, stores and protects the personal data of members and visitors to lmcoa.org.

LMCOA is a legally registered Spanish entity, registration number G70861323. For any questions about this policy or your personal data, contact us at secretary@lmcoa.org or by post at Cum Laude Legal, Plaza Del Town Centre No3, Bajo D, La Torre Golf Resort, Autovia Murcia – San Javier KM12, CP 30709, Roldán, Murcia

What Personal Data We Collect

  • Registration/membership data: first name, last name, username, password, email address, property number, community, and number of years as owner, submitted via our Registration form.
  • Contact form data: name, email address and message content submitted through our Contact form.
  • Discussion/forum data: posts, replies and topics submitted in the Discussions and Community Chat Room areas, plus your IP address and browser user-agent string for spam and abuse prevention.
  • Donation data: if you donate, we may see your name as a payment reference. Donations are made by direct bank transfer, so LMCOA does not collect or store bank card details.
  • Technical/cookie data: IP address, browser type, and cookie identifiers as described in the “Cookies” section below.

Why We Use Your Data (Legal Basis)

  • Verifying membership and providing member services (Discussions, Community Chat Rooms, member-only pages) — legal basis: performance of your membership agreement with LMCOA and our legitimate interest in confirming members are genuine property owners.
  • Responding to enquiries submitted via the Contact form — legal basis: legitimate interest / steps taken at your request.
  • Processing voluntary donations — legal basis: legitimate interest in funding the Association’s activities.
  • Operating essential website functions (login sessions, security, spam prevention) — legal basis: legitimate interest, necessary to provide the service.
  • Non-essential cookies (analytics, preferences) — legal basis: your consent, given via the cookie banner.

Who We Share Your Data With

We do not sell or rent personal data. We may share limited data with:

  • Our website hosting and technical service providers, who process data on our behalf under confidentiality obligations.
  • Automated spam-detection and transactional email-delivery services used to operate the Discussions area and site email.
  • The Google Translate widget on our site, provided by Google LLC, which may process the text of pages you choose to translate. This only activates if you use the translation feature.
  • Blevins Franks Tax Advisers and Cum Laude Abogados, our independent sponsor and lawyers, only if you choose to contact them directly — we do not automatically share your data with them.
  • Regulators, courts or authorities where legally required.

International Transfers

LMCOA is based in Spain (EU/EEA). Where a service provider we use is located outside the EEA (for example, Google), we rely on that provider’s Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent recognised safeguard.

How Long We Keep Your Data

  • Membership/registration data: kept while you remain a registered member, and for a limited period afterwards to meet administrative and legal record-keeping obligations.
  • Contact form enquiries: kept for a limited period after resolution.
  • Discussion posts and comments: retained so conversation threads stay readable for other members, unless you request deletion.
  • Donation records (name and amount): kept for our financial accounts as required by law.

[LMCOA Board to confirm exact retention periods for each category above.]
